Holiday travel is the worst. We're considering staying home next year for the holidays to save on all the aggravation and to just enjoy a relaxing holiday season for once. The melt from family should be glorious.

I move back home in February. Prior to that, I had to travel the past 8 years to come home for the holidays.

We do.....and we kinda stopped traveling a couple of years ago. Or.....we visited my parents last weekend so now we are free to just relax now for the rest of the year.

We went to the in laws the weekend before thanksgiving for a wedding so we called that our holiday trip.

Last year we didn't travel at all for Christmas, just stayed home and chilled.

The inevitable guilt trip should be priceless that they give you.

Must be nice rolling out of bed and putting slippers on while everybody else is trying to avoid speeding tickets & holding their pee for hours on end

The SO makes a 7 1/2 hour drive every Christmas to do his family stuff. We figure until we're married and have kids there's no reason to have to alternate every year so we do our Christmas together after the fact. I feel for him.

I've lived away since 04. Used to go home every year until 2012 when son was born. Now with 2 we either go in early December or go back to nola at Mardi Gras but my kids are going to be at home for Christmas.

For the past 9 years I've lived either a far away from my family or hers. So we'd travel at least once a year for Thanksgiving or Christmas. Now that we are in Utah, we live FAR away from both. And although the first year two years ago we traveled for both holidays, we've remained home the last two.

It's glorious. There was, and continues to be, small melts about it, but it's unrealistic and pretty much ruins any holiday for us.

The way airlines treat passengers now is what seals the deal. The first year in Utah we were delayed on both trips for various reasons, had to take off extra days of work and all that goes with it. Just not worth it.

I make family come see me. Not traveling with my kids on the roads. Staying home.

I do but I like the occasional long drive.

better to not have the family too close the rest of the year, enjoy them when I see them, don't get tired of seeing them too much

It does suck to not have the family around on Christmas morning/day, but man, waking up without something huge to prepare for on Christmas, or driving any distance, or having a packed house. Is kind of nice, no lie.

After a couple of years we might figure something else out, but we'll just enjoy this for now.

I don't mind it really now. Once I have a family I have to drag with me I'm sure it'll get tiresome.

I live in Houston now so only short trip back home to BR but holiday travel can still be rough on I10 with idiots who don't normally make that trip on hwy....but it's always nice to bring my family back home to Louisiana to be with rest of family when so close...I once lived in Toledo, Ohio and that sucked!!!!

One of the benefits of our decision to never have kids is that there's pretty much zero pressure from family in the holiday season. We're gonna see 'em all in January. No big deal.

I am traveling this year to see family. Day two with them and they are driving me insane. If I stay home I am bored out of my mind. I don't know what to do anymore.

Left on Thursday to beat the traffic. About an 8 hour drive from Dallas to Oxford.

Every year from Houston to BR. When the kids were little it was in order- dad, Mom, grandmother, in laws, mom. In two days. Dad, grandmother, in laws all have passed. Kids are grown and I'm divorced. Much calmer now but I miss all those crazy fun times. Merry Christmas OT.
