Both look pretty awesome.
Has anyone done these and what are your thoughts?

Nantahala would be my choice. Stay in Bryson City.

I did both years ago. Chatooga and it's not comparable.

Ocoee. If it was good enough for the olympic games, it was good enough for me.

Chattooga, see the movie Deliverance.

Both are fun trips. The chatooga is longer with more calm water areas. The ocoee is shorter with nearly non stop rapids. Personally I prefer the ocoee because it's big rapids packed into shorter trip. Also if you're looking for a fun trip that doesn't take all day I have to agree with doing to Nantahala. You can go in an inflatable kayak on your own or double up with someone.

I've done both... It's been about 15 or 16 years, but from what I remember, the Ocoee was a hell of a trip and the Chattooga was a little more laid back... There's a section in the Ocoee that was the Olympic Course. It was a rough son of a bitch and the water was extremely cold on Spring Break. The Chattooga had a few big rapids, but there seemed to be more of a break between them.

Both are beautiful and worth the trip.

The Ococee gave me 12 staples in my shin, but it was fun before that.

Cherry Creek (CA) and the Upper Gauley (WV) are the best though.

They do have a class 5 but they don't let anyone on it. I'm pretty sure only experienced rafters that are certified or some shite like that can go class 5. It's been a few years for me but this is what I remember. Hell, I may be totally wrong also
