I prefer B, but I'm not the boss. My office is right next to my boss's, but there are times I go days without seeing him. The guys that report to me are on the other side of the building though.
We all get our work done without micromanaging.
ETA: My boss didn't specifically want my office right next to his, it was just the only actual office available at the time. Apparently I've made it far enough to not be given a cube
