I hear a lot about how bad Gustav was but dont hear much about Andrew. I was in the N.O.Metro Area at the time so i wasn't paying much attention to the B.R.

It seems that the storms had similar tracks and Andrew was stronger.

Gustav was the worst hurricane damage BR ever had.

Andrew was really bad too

Gustav.

Wasn't it winds sustained 50-60 for about 5-6 hours, top gust around 90? That was a long arse day.

Gustav. Tree damage was unreal. 90+ mph wind gusts. Baton Rouge really got hit hard. There are some impressive videos on YouTube. Utility infrastructure was mangled. Some places didn't have power for 3+ weeks. Food and ice lines around the block at whatever stores were open.

I believe Gustav has an edge on Andrew for the BR area but not by much. Ascension and Assumption were absolutely shredded for Gustav though.

Gustav was worse, Andrew hitting at night made it scary though. Could you imagine if Gustav would have hit at night

Gustav was a lot worse because the east side of the eye was near Baton Rouge when the storm slowed down and moved slowly westward.

In St.Francisville Andrew was worse only because I remember not having water for a few days. I was in 6th grade but for Gustav we never lost water and electricity was out for about the same amount of time

After Andrew, the yards were covered about 3 feet deep in branches. Gustav blew the trees down.

Andrew in Homestead made the buildings disappear.

The aftermath sucked, but my roommate and I punting footballs into and against the wind was pretty fun. The ones into the wind always ended up behind us.

You're asking a board where many members were in college or on TD when Gustav hit

It'll win regardless of reality due to demographics here

I was out for 3 weeks for Gustav. For Andrew I was on the State Police grid when they were on Foster and had power in two hours.

And the manager of the A&P told us to load up on meat since the power was out and we cooked steaks for a week.
