Little Gasparilla Island is by far the best place on the GoM

I go through that pass all the time to get to the Gulf. And if I go fishing for snook at night, it's normally along the docks on Little Gasparilla.

a lot more laid back than Gulf Shores or Orange Beach.

not really a tourist attraction like those.

but there is always a ton of people down there on the weekend of the Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo.

there is a ferry you can ride down there to Fort Morgan if you wanted to go over closer to Gulf Shores. I think it takes like 30 minutes to ride over there.

Eldred's marina. I live in North Port and launch from there all the time.

No doubt about it.

It's always been a goal of mine to have a place out there. The problem is, I would NEVER get any work done. Oh, and the cost of owning a house out there in the first place.

That's awesome. Figured no way in hell anyone on here would ever have a clue about old Eldred's Marina. My cousins have a house on the very south end of the island, and I swear it's the best fishing dock on this planet. The house is old & crappy, but the dock is prime real estate. The current really rips through there and you can catch almost anything on that dock. The snook can pile up by the hundreds on top of each other, and it's not unusual. I grew up on that dock.

Ditto.

I have definitely fished that dock. Pulled the biggest gator trout in my life off of it. The thing was 25" long.

My buddy's dad is the builder for that huge new place at the south end of the island.

Fort Walton Beach. We've been going there since 1972, back when Destin was the fishing docks, one motel, and a cafe. It is close enough to home to drive in 5 hours and close enough to Destin to get the wife over to a few decent restaurants without having to drive in it everyday.

With that said, Key West is pretty nice too.

State park and public beach on cape San blas = my happy place. Scallop season; great bayside fishing and paddling. Great campsites. Backcountry beach camping. Dog-friendly beach. Never ever crowded. Easy drive for me. Nearly same beach and water quality as Destin.

It is why I moved to Florida and have 3 boats, it is what ever beach I am on that day, they are all unique and have something special to offer. The fewer people the better

I still miss Florida for that. I lived on the Atlantic side (near WPB) but i enjoyed Jupiter, John d. McCarthur beach, and I never found them super crowded. Plus, they had some nice parks around them too
