My prediction: more 80's stuff. Like Don Johnson Miami Vice style white coats.

Somewhat. But more like 90's emo/indy. But yea, a lot like grunge, too.

Not sure where it's going but if it pisses rednecks off I'm happy with it.

The hipster thing has gone from being a counter culture to full on mainstream. Beards, craft beers, nerd glasses, local farmers markets, record players, rustic urban restaurants, old fashioned barber shops, graphic tees, undercut gelled back hair and more are all popular. People who were wearing Hurley and board shorts two years ago are now seen on Facebook with mustaches and bow ties.
When the counter culture becomes mainstream, that's usually a sign that it's coming to an end. So what's next?
Sounds to me like they've almost come to there senses.

I've already been sporting a white coat and a seafoam green T shirt with an undercut and driving mocs.

This doesn't answer your question. But I always thought it was funny how "emo" in the 90's was basically the same as today's "hipster" in every way. Then "goths" dropped the JNCOs for chick jeans (skinny jeans didn't exist yet) and hijacked "emo".
So I guess my point is that in a couple years, what we now know as "hipster" will just be "mainstream". And "hipster" will morph into something totally different.
Actually skinny jeans happened in the early sixties. They were known then as pegged pants.

it's hard for a sub-culture to stay underground these days - everything gets commercialized too easily
my guess is the hipster sub-culture will be mostly extinct within 5 years

True. But they weren't readily available again until sometime in the mid 2000's

Hipsters get pissed off when you call them a hipster, but they are all too much of a pussy to do anything about it
