Look at these "teachers", and they wonder why we don't take their jeremiads seriously.

I'm here.

I didn't watch your video but if it's about the "lack" of teachers I disagree with it. The only places that lack teachers are shitty school districts that people don't want to work in.
I should know I'm in one of those districts in TX, pay increases 3 years in a row to make it one of the higher paying districts and they still can't fill all the positions. We started this year with 7 vacancies....

Meanwhile high performing districts are turning teachers down, people just don't want to work with kids who don't want to learn

Those kinds of kids need to be sent straight to jail, because that's where they're gonna end up for not having any money.

They aren't teachers any longer; they are facilitators.

When I was in elementary school they segregated the kids based on testing. We had group "A" "B" "C" and "D".

Group A were all the GT students and D had all the behavior problems.
It worked well, I can see that not being kosher in today's world.
They need to keep the bad kids at alternative schools, segregate them out,m they infect the other students and ruin learning for all. You can usually spot them as young as third grade too.

I remember the days when we were glorified jailers in WBR and EBR. Glad I moved

You never see any stories about the thousands upon thousands of great teachers out there.

Without going all poliboard, political correctness has made "tracking" into a 4-letter word. Regardless of what works and what doesn't.

Higher education most definitely has a lack of teachers. In my major (maybe 300 kids), we only have four full time teachers. Right now, I have a student teacher for an upper level engineering class

Absolutely. We're looking at a shortage in our district now that the district has adopted "restorative teaching" practices to keep kids with behavior issues in the classroom instead of putting their asses out if they're going to disrupt classrooms/assault teachers and other students.

They also decided, despite the growing behavior issues, to condense the district's three alternative schools into two and now close to 90% of those teachers are wanting to transfer out because one of the alternative schools is out of control. Teachers are being assaulted on a daily basis with the kids receiving a slap on the wrist and sent back to class. The Principal of the school, who is the husband of one of the Assistant Superintendents and has never been a Principal before, blames the teachers for not wanting to "deal with their (the children's) problems".

The parents here who cry lawsuit whenever their baby who "does nothing wrong" is punished have all of the power. It's absolutely absurd and I couldn't blame anyone for not wanting to go into teaching in that environment.

The first step would be to decentralize education in America.

Creative people don't want to become a teacher when a bunch of bureaucrats 2,000 miles away dictate to them what and how things must be taught.

I like how there wasn't even a math teacher interviewed. Just humanities, special ed, "ethnic studies", and a token lip-pierced d-bag science teacher. I think the choice of teachers interviewed explains a lot in that video. Looks like those teachers need to grow the frick up and stop pretending like they're still 19.
