If you don't have flood insurance, get what you want out and leave a burner on.

Anyone who lives in Louisiana near I-10 without flood insurance is an idiot.

Otherwise it's a freak weather event.

Why? Is I-10 leaking?

I think people need to reevaluate what they keep on hand in case of emergencies.

Bottled water or some sort of filtration system. A partial food source somewhat like mre's, and a means of communication other than a cell phone.

I found a cool device from delorme, called the inreach. Uses iphone/android phones and connects them to satellites to send messages and make calls. Pretty cheap. Haven't looked at their plans and of they are monthly or yearly. If its monthly and a named storm is coming, just activate it before the storm.

Most importantly is having a plan and where you are going and then go. You can always go home if it doesn't flood or whatever, but you can get stuck if it does. Then a bunch of awesome people from tigerdroppings have to come save you.

I don't k ow, just thoughts, I'm dry and have been going through my stuff to see what I need on case it happens to me. Is love to be helping, wife is a leo so I have the baby and have to sit out.

As I say this it just starting pouring again in bedico.

And not slighting on anyone, just my observations from what's going on.

Is a post like that really necessary, right now? In any way is that helpful?

At this point, anyone who doesn't know that I-10 is the line for severe flooding hasn't been paying attention.

Basically referring to the fact that basically from Sherwood to Walker has flooded. Nowhere for people to go, stores are flooded, repair obviously needs to start once the water falls, but all the supply stores are flooded. People lost thier cars, but many car lots are flooded. People that worked in br life in AP and LP and Central.

I know many people who have lost homes this week that are more than 25 miles from I-10.

If you do indeed pay attention, you will see that proximity to the Comite and Amite rivers pits you at a higher risk. There are others as well.
