most people could probably get all their work done on Monday, if we are honest

Yes. I think modern efficiencies and technological advances have vastly out paced the perception that x work requires y time.

I can get more done in 15 minutes than I used to in an hour. Payables? Payroll? Marketing reports? HR forms and issues? Communication? Receivables? Hiring? Firing? all areas of financial or general management are measured in minutes or hours versus hours or days.

Commie paradise? Are you serious. Saying that everyone must work 5 day weeks to conform versus demonstrating industriousness and efficiency and getting more done in less time to enjoy your life? Which is more solcialist or communist? Getting things done used to be an American hallmark.

i agree conceptually that yes, being industrious and getting things done an American hallmark. i also know that there is the human factor of the "day before the weekend" and "i'll get to it on monday" mentality that will kick in regardless of which day it is or how many hours or days have been worked. ergo, you land on "same money, less work", which prompted my commie remark

Yeah, he's full of it. I'm a pretty hardcore capitalist and own the business, and 4-10's has been great for the bottom line.

I dont know that this is the case, but arbitrarily saying you must sit behind a desk and count the minutes is just silly. You have things you are responsible, those things have a value. If you deliver those things, that is your job. As long as your revenue base is not negatively affected and your functions are being performed, that is what is needed. 20 hours, 40 hours....50 hours?

I hire based on the amount of money that will be produced or saved. Once you fulfill that number, I am pretty happy.

for a specific well managed small business, certainly. on a macro scale, not a chance.

And it is a management job to insure that the human factor is not mitigated, but emphasized. That is why you treat people well, be quick to fire cancers and hire who is essential.

Hell, I had an HVAC guy out today, I have used the company for years. This tech that came out is spectacular. His old counterpart, not so much. His old counterpart is an ex employee. The good guy takes care of business is personable and handles up on all issues. You dont treat all people the same. That is communal. You treat people as they are valued and eventually you have all valuable people.

It sounds to me like you have been managed in an odd way.

There is no difference. Human behavior is entirely predictable.

if we went to 4 10's as a standard across the board, how many years do you think it would be until the "10 hour work day is too long" mantra would start, and there would be a push for 4 8's to be the standard. that's the way these things trend. you guys are getting butthurt because you think i called you commies, which i didnt mean it that way. i'm just saying that the left will absolutely jump on the concept to further squeeze industry to pay more for less.

so i'll walk back the commie remark. i dont think you guys are commies. i'm sure you're all fantastic businessmen and loyal capitalists.

there is a difference. in a small business, it is much easier to manage the individual situations and manage a much more flexible work week. you know the leadership (or it sounds like in your case, you ARE the leadership), and you can trust things to get done. in a huge business though, there are goign to be so many multiple layers of management that inevitably there will be some shitty leaders in there who cant manage that correctly. sure, some of them will be rooted out. but others wont. it;s just a numbers game.

We should just all go to 7 and 7. 12 hour days. A whole week to forget about work is lovely.

It’s not really up to the government unless you work for the government.

LOL, will never ever happen. The US is permanently cucked by corporations who would never allow it. It's culturally ingrained at this point, people in other countries aren't chained to emails at all hours of the night and weekend or chastised for taking vacations, whereas that is commonplace in the US.

I’d much rather four 10 hour days than the current five 8 hour days. And it would seem to bring more balance to our work-home lives. I believe it would make a more productive work force as well.

need to move the school day to 4 days for that to work.

only problem that gives 1 less day a week for the government to babysit and feed certain socioeconomic groups.....

In college I worked at an industrial a/c mfg plant. Worked 3 12s, Fri-Sun, got credit for 40 + benefits. Went to school Mon-Thu.

My last 2 years of school, & made about $600/week. After college went into the office, bumped pay, until I got recruited for something else.

It was nice getting things done during the week without the weekend crowd.
