I went to grade school with the kids of the sheriff that is escorting the POS. I remember hearing second hand accounts of the story from his point of view.

You would have to know the date tickets go on sale and jump on them immediately. But I have yet to try to get them for kill Tony.

I was planning on going to see Jim Norton March 23 at the Texas Theater (Oswald) in Dallas.

But my Godson is heading to Austin for a Bachelor Party trip March 15-17 and invited me along to go see Jim...which just happens to be the 40th Anniversary.

Thought so. I’ve had a few beers with him and a few of his buddies.

Its funny because shortly after you started this thread you replied to on of my posts on the NFL rigged discussion on the more sports board.

The whole reason I signed up for Tigerdroppings was because they started a thread about my Dad and some posters were getting 50% of the facts wrong...thus JodyPlauche.

At first no one believed it was really me...and a poster who used to work with my Dad to guys initials who my Dad worked with in the 70's...I asked my Dad, he told me the name of the 2 guys and that's what convinced everyone I was really who I claimed to be.

Someone usually posts something once or twice a year. If you read the book and have any questions...feel free to email me.

Here is a picture of me, my brother, and brother-in-law this summer in Pass Christian before I went to see Smokey Robinson in Biloxi

It's a small world.

Pretty much everone I know, in my circle of friends, remember where we were the day we saw the news clip.

I'm always doing things and putting things into 40 year perspectives. Seemed like a long time ago .... doesn't seem like a long time ago anymore.

It probably seems like both to you ... a long time ago ... and yesterday.

As a child my grandfather tried telling me about living through WWI (40 years ago) and my uncles told me about fighting in WWII (forty years ago). Matter of fact we had an 82nd reunion in '82 in Houston and the 82nd vets were talking about their Sicily and Salerno campaigns (40 yrs ago) and then, in '84, I was on the Honor Guard and jumped into St Mere Eglese for the 40th Anniversary of the D-Day invasion. I thought, "those old guys are old." My 2nd oldest daughter was born a month later .... she'll be 40 in a few months.

Now, 40 years later for me, it seems like long ago ... yet it seems like yesterday.

As a teenage kid I loved Roman Gabriel ... now he's a good friend. But most kids under 50 have no clue who he is. I first met him in '98, 40 years after I was a huge fan. Later, he signed a rookie card of mine I had held onto for 40 years.

The past 40 years for you Jody ... I'm happy to read your book and learn about what you've experienced since ... yours must be an interesting and inspiring story. I'll read it.

I'm a grandfather now but, as stated earlier, when I saw the shooting trending on X, it had been decades since I thought of it. And, taking into account how society has changed and the shite we put up with when it comes to what our kids are exposed-to these days ..... I dunno. Your family's story is, in many ways, a milestone in this country's history ... and what has happened since then is an interesting slice to dissect.

Thank you for your response above. Much appreciated young man. God Bless you.

Well it wasn't much to write about. Basically dad came home with brain matter all over him and had to deal with the trauma of having the guy next to him literally having his brains blown out at point blank range.

That’s awesome dude. I trust a toast will be made to one of the greatest American heroes that night.

RIP Bud!!!

The 1st question an audience member on the Geraldo Show asked my dad was, "How do you trust yourself to go into a public building and start blasting away?"

My dad said, "When I looked down the barrel of that gun...I knew exactly who I was hitting!"

He was sorry Bud had to experience that...but Bud was not in jeopardy! My Dad on the other hand was. Bud told me at Twin Peaks a few years ago...if Mike didn't shield my Dad and if the camera wasn't their he would have shot my Dad. And that is exactly what my Dad thought was going to happen.

I wasn't trying to insinuate that Bud was in danger. I fully support your dad's actions and believe that I would likely do the same if I were in his shoes. I'm certainly glad Bud didn't shoot back.

I will say every time I walk through that area of the airport I think about that day. We are the same age, grew up in the same neighborhood, and played ball against each other. I appreciate you sharing your story with us.

Come on man...

With that said, I remember the first time I saw this was on one of those faces of death videos on the VCR. Anyone remember faces of death?
