I was 28. Recently discharged from the Navy and was ready for some privacy and ownership.

I was 25, almost 26. I regret it. I bought at the top of the market in our area and had to sell in the bottom of the market. Was upside down in the house.
Part of that was because when I bought it, you could easily get a house with no money down... and I did that... because everyone told me I was stupid to rent.
I ended up doing a short sale and it took my credit years to recover.
Buy a house when you are ready to buy a house and have enough saved up for a strong down payment and enough saved up to fix stuff when it breaks. I wish I would have waited 3-4 years.

30ish. Bought a house in Madison ms with the assumption my fiancé would move to MS. We broke up and I said frick it and moved to the northeast. The down payment on my current house is more than 1.5x the total purchase price of that MS house.

24, 1200 Sq ft home 2 bed 2 bath and it was plenty for me. The mortgage with insurance and taxes were the same as the rent so you will at least see some of that money you invest back. Unlike an apartment or rental if it breaks you have to fix it and trust me shite will break at the most inconvenient time. I was similar to your situation at the time and imo the pros outweigh the cons for homeowners ownership compared to renting.

35. $375,000 macaroons. I didn’t have much guidance that ever encouraged home ownership though and I lived a lot of different places.

the only reason I'd want a house is because a mortgage would be cheaper and I would be building equity.
How about not sharing a wall floor and ceiling with 4 random families, the noise, the space, etc

Good points. I have never enjoyed any job I've ever had and have wanted to move out of SC just because I've been here my whole life. But I keep saying these things and not doing anything about it.

24
Was a foreclosure that needed a lot of work.
Sold it 10 years later for double what I paid for it.
Put in many hours of work though.

28 years old. I’m sure women will be saying a lot younger because majority just slept their way into their first home.

first house at 32 before i got married.
I rented in Baton Rouge (gardere and staring) from 22 to 28. I lived in a sea-can camp on leased land that i paid 5k for from 28-32, 200 bucks a year for the lease. I miss that place.

I'm on the 3rd floor in the corner, so I really only share the space beside me and behind my bedroom. Could be a LOT worse. The floor is moot, they are the ones that have to hear me. Hardly ever see anyone.
