When did women start wearing the pants?

Is it just me or have people taken this whole "mom is the boss" thing waaaaaaay too far lately?
I know growing up my dad and his buddies would always joke that "mom runs things" and "mom is the boss", but it was clearly just a joke. Sure the wife would decide what everyone was wearing for the damn Christmas card or who was invited for the dinner party, but anything of real substance was decided by the dad. I have vivid memories of dad definitively making decisions about anything of any real importance and when he said what was happening now, the discussion was over, period. They went on guys' ski trip every year, without fail.
Lately, though, most of my married buddies have seemingly taken this way too literally. They all constantly complain about being poor because "they had to get her her dream home" or "had to get her a new car" or couldn't go on a guy's trip because they had to go to Disney to get pics of their clueless 10 month old with Mickey Mouse because mom said so.
Is this new? I'm late twenties and can't figure out if this is a huge shift or if guys grow out of it and eventually start taking some control back.

relatively yes.
late 60's and all the 70's was the transition.
1950's were archetypically male dominated.

It's true. Women today are not like how you grew up. They're crazy, demanding, controlling bitches. They do what they want because they believe you are replaceable. You don't fall in line, they'll file for divorce and find someone else.
Back in the day, women were still crazy but they had a harder time getting out of a marriage with lack of opportunities, finances, etc.

Women make money now so they get to have some input. Women who don't work still do what they are told.

Europeans have always considered the US a matriarchal country

It was when the courts established the no-fault divorce system with alimony for the wives.

Happy wife isn't happy because her husband does everything she asks. She's happier if she has a husband she respects instead of gets to treat like a doormat.

Yep once you have a couple of kids women pretty much have all the leverage. The courts hate men and she will get a ridiculous child support judgment and half of your assets. Women know this and some take advantage.

I still think in a vast majority of hetero relationships, the man is still probably more in control of the "big decisions" (finances).

You have to mindfrick her. I'm mindfricking mine right now by thoughtlessly posting on the internet while she's talking to me. You have to show her that you don't need her and would be perfectly content by yourself. That's what marriage is all about.

frick that

I do like my wife and son to ride in something nice, but within reason.

Disney
Double-frick Disney.

Just a bunch of pussy arse men who are afraid of disagreeing with their wives because they know their wives don't respect them and will stop fricking them.

When they started literally wearing pants. They should be in dresses or skirts.
