I got this Mach3 Turbo razor and 26 blades for around $27.00.
The blades last me three weeks.

I haven't shaved in nearly two years.

For 41 years, I used the normal Gillette style type of razors. A couple of guys at work started talking about how they like safety blades, badger brushes, and all this what not. So, I started researching this stuff and was impressed. I wound up buying the Vikings Blade The Godfather razor, a mixing bowl, badger brush, some shave soap, and ultimately switched to Feather razors. I love the quality, and how cheap the blades are.

Looks like my setup.
Except I never bought a bowl. I just drop the soap in my 30 year old black chevron coffee mug

Use Schick hydro, which is cheap from Costco.
Ditto, and it's the best razor I've ever used (previously used a Mach 3 for years).

Feather blades and safety razor is the best and cheapest way to go.
I think I bought 500 blades for like $20 on Amazon.
Been using them for the last 5 years or so.
I am old enough to remember the old trac II razors when they were like $5 for 6 or something like that.
Glad I went to the old double edge feather blades.
Same here. Haven't bought razors in 2 yrs

I have never used a safety razor in my life but yall have me interested. How does the shave compare to your typical three or four blade disposable razor?

For my face, any old razor works well enough. But I like real precision on my scrotum so only a 5 blade or better

For me alot better. You have one blade vs multiple going over your face, the skin tolerates it much better. I switched over and haven't looked back, no more ingrowns, knicks, or cuts. It's cheaper too but like others have said get a good brush and shave soap.

Which brands should I start with?

It takes a few shaves to really get the feel, figure out the best angle, and learn your beard growth. After that, you should get BBS regularly.

I bought a sampler pack of blades off of amazon before I settled on Gillette 7 o'clock blades.
