This^.

Also you can bring your free refill popcorn bag back if you go regularly to the theater.

next time go to a Movie Tavern. I went and only spent $65 total on, IMO, high-quality bar food, beer, and movie tickets for 2.

Some movies are better to experience on the big screen with the good sound system.

What's up with all the weirdos in this thread condemning people for eating popcorn at a movie? Sorry, the dried kale chips were out of stock at Wholefoods.

I've never understood why people have to shovel high levels of sugar and fat into their mouths while they watch a movie.

Our nation is a bunch of unhealthy assholes gobbling up my tax money to pay for their Healthcare.

Because it tastes good. Not that hard to understand really.

You're barking up the wrong tree with this statement. You need to redirect your hostility towards people sucking up your tax dollars. Hint, it's not what you have alluded to.

What also drives me crazy is the child's ticket is just $0.75 less than an adult and a senior only $0.25. Why bother with different pricing?

This has been going on for decades but I still have the same reaction you do. It's very rare to see me in a theater. Cell phone haven't helped things either.

Medium popcorn and drink was $14.00 when I went on Saturday. A .10 cup and .05 worth of soda. A .10 bag and .15 worth of popcorn.

A total cost of .40 sold for $14.00. The biggest price gouge ever but the people line up to pay the price by the droves. I did. My wife said "we have to have popcorn !"

Profit

I worked at an AMC theater during high school for a few years (1992-1994) And performed every role from concessions, I sure, box ticket sales, and ultimately a projectionist who starts the movies....but never understood what ultimately drives the ticket prices.

If the theater does not retain any profits from ticket sales, why does each theater have a different price of admission?
