You'd have to be an idiot to think that corruption doesn't exist among pretty much all police/sheriffs departments. The good LEOs get ostracized and driven out by the rogue/corrupt LEOs and you wind up with departments full of corruption. Not saying every LEO is a terrible person, but corruption is rampant among LEOs and the good guys know that if they speak up they will be shunned across the department and their career is pretty much over. Many good people simply avoid the LEO career altogether due to the corruption which is why you wind up with a bunch of unethical shitbags as LEOs. It's a huge problem across America and pretty much everywhere else.

That was a nice little post but it has nothing to do with specifics about the OP

He has a lot of very poorly constructed FB posts that are sketchy but it appears the drama with the police arresting him and taking his wife's kid started before he ran for Sherrif. It appears true that the officers were connected to his wife's ex.

It also appears in the video I linked that he has actual evidence that the police were targeting him and lied about his traffic violations. They also assessed him nearly $1000 for a traffic ticket which isn't normall. In addition to this it appears to be true that they intentionally lost video evidence. I don't find that to be acceptable at all.

There is obviously something going on. Whatever it is it doesn't look good on the WPD

i get all that but after the video last year surfaced it seems he's pretty much single handidly ruffling a bunch of good ole baw feathers out there. He could probably make all this go away if he just left it alone but i don't think he's goin gto.
Yeah, it sucks about that fine. I'm thinking it's because of that video from his house last year.

So you believe government should punish, harass, fine, and lie about citizens who criticize them?

Small government conservative?

that's not what i'm saying. I'm saying they're not coming after for him for no reason. He's done something to them and they're making life difficult for him.

I mean, what could possibly go wrong when you give a bunch of people who aren't very smart an incredible amount of power?

It's easy for things to get out of control.

Individually, most cops aren't bad. They are pretty decent. It only takes that ONE time where you frick up and another cop says, "Hey, don't worry. I'll back up your play." You owe them, and soon they will owe you. That's when things can start getting out of control quickly.

The fact that they are doing all this as payback for criticizing them actually makes it worse than if it were just a random case of incompetence.

How do you find this sort of thing to be acceptable. I have never fired an employee but if they lied and abused their position in such a way I would not hesitate to fire them. Why don't government employees with guns and badges get the same treatment?

It's not really about how smart someone is. It's about how seriously a person takes their oath. It's funny how fast those morals go out the window when it comes to self preservation. After that it's just a small step to using your authority to get at someone that has questioned it

I agree that most aren't morally poor people. They just aren't very smart and are driven by emotions instead of reason. And, because of the chain of command, those that do possess forward-thinking abilities are often silenced in various ways.
