I'm going to be there for the next couple of nights. Can I just walk in to a club and chill? Is it more like rounders or the isle of Capri?

There’s a cool spot on Post oak that I’ve been to a couple of times, it is no secret

I know there are, or use to be, some mint poker places that were out in the open. I walked in one to get a tour from a manager, but i dont play so didnt stick around.

Almost all of the recent significant events in the world of poker are connected with tournaments in one way or another.

You can probably play poker in Houston, but I would stay away from the dice games. They can get a little testy...

I hear the dice games there can be mind blowing.

I’d probably take off to Galveston and play instead so you don’t get yourself in a hole.

Prime Social is a nice place to play. Membership fee at the door and pay by the hour to play. There is food, security, and cute cocktail girls. They do not fold so don't bluff

The busiest room is usually legends. It has had multiple shootings either in the parking lot or people shooting the room up.

I will not go back to legends. I've also heard that room as people who play for the house, and I saw some shady collusion style play when I was there.

It's the wild west, be safe.

Is it even regulated? I wouldn’t play poker unless it was in a licensed casino and I know they don’t have that in Texas.

Card rooms in Texas operate as private social clubs.

How does that work? I know in Louisiana a non profit raising money for something can hold a poker tournament as long as some of the proceeds go into the donations (I say in Louisiana, but that's anywhere in the US).

Are private social clubs different?

There are small games that go on in small town bars and in the back of grocery stores but they are even getting few and far between. And not just anyone is getting into those.

It’s just in a bad area of town. You add that with large amount if money moving in and out and you’re asking for trouble.

101 in Katy is pretty decent. Also heard good things about TCH in Spring.

The Lodge outside Austin looks like nice place to play (watching the livestreams on YouTube). I assume there is something equivalent in the Houston suburbs.

I don't know enough about the area of town but I've heard wild stories about that place. A bullet doesn't have to be intended for you to do damage.

My point is I do not feel safe there and would recommend going elsewhere.

Those fricking morons. That goes to show you they go after who they want. They didn't go after people because it was against the law, they went after people to protect the casinos.
