$250 I think. All it took was a good wooping like that and I haven't had the desire to step back in a casino since.

This is a great thread for curbing any enthusiasm about gambling. I expected more "I always come out ahead" responses. The fact that there aren't says a lot about your chances in a casino.

I've come out ahead plenty of times - especially with books - but I'd guess I have $.70 for every $1.00 I've gambled.

I watched on (after losing $100 myself and quitting) as my SO turned $100 into $1800, then proceeded to lose every dime of it thereafter. I'm not much of a gambler and was already taking it slow with my money when she racked up the $1800. I've never begged to go back to a hotel that much in my life. She also has a bit of a casino addiction and gets to drug-feigning levels if one is anywhere nearby.

Losing a shite ton of money in the stock market sounds a lot more respectful than losing at a casino and it's basically the same thing.

$4k at the Aria in 2013. Moneyline LSU vs Georgia. Frick OBJ for dropping that punt.

I go to the casino 10-12 times per month. It's like managing a mutual fund or 401K.

Maybe a mutual fund managed by Madoff or Sanford. (unless you're card counting).

Few nights ago went in with $100 and walked out with $4100. I was up to $5700 but I kept playing for a few more minutes.

Worst night was $300. Never got higher than 2 pair at the poker table, and could only bluff so much. Best night was in an Aruba casino. I went in basically conceding my $150 and just looking to have fun. Played roulette and could not lose. Kept sticking $25 chips in my pocket after hitting singles and pairs and playing with the change. Walked away with about a grand.

Or good at poker. Some people don't grasp statistics. Gambling should always be for entertainment except for a select few poker players.

Guy that works for me drove to Tunica MS in a beat up old truck worth about $4000. He came home in the back of bus that cost about $300,000. Would that count as a loss or a win?

Poker
Blackjack (counting)
Horse race handicapping
Sports betting

You can win in the long run in each of those. But to do it, you have to approach it like a profession. All are a grind.

Around $350 two weekends ago in Biloxi. Hating myself for it because I'm almost about to have to pay out my bookie soon as well.

I'm done with the casino for a while. Will continue sports betting though. A lot better for me.

Maybe $50. I look at it as entertainment, so if I can go in and play $50 for a while, I figure I get my money's worth. I've always set that as an absolute limit before I leave, it's easy to see how someone could get caught up and lose big.
