What's the most effective way to manage a dog with diarrhea...

If said dog stays in the house all day and in a kennel during the day?
Can they take Imodium, Kao Pectate, Pepto, etc.? I'm tired of coming home to a whining dog in the afternoon, letting the dog out, and mopping up puddles of poop.

Put the damn dog outside. It's a dog.

Stock up on cleaning supplies.

Why not take them to the vet to find out why the dog is having constant diarrhea? That isn't normal.

First off, you can't leave the dog in a kennel with diarrhea. That would be beyond cruel. You'll have to lock it in a bathroom or laundry room and hope for the best. And while you are cleaning up the shite, keep in mind that whatever caused the diarrhea is your fault - he can't eat what he shouldn't without your assistance.
If it's not something he ate - take him to the vet - could be pancreatitis or something serious.
And no they CANNOT take any human anti-memetics or anti-diarrheal medicines.

Not surprising that a commie lefto pinky wouldn't know how to care for a dog or be able to come up with a good solution.

He's eating Authority Chicken & Pea Grain Free Formula for puppies. The diarrhea is not constant, but does occur and then followed by 2-3 days of normal elimination.

You sound like a caring, loving dog owner. That's sarcasm if it has been going on for several days do what others have mentioned take the dog to the vet. It is not normal

So he's a puppy. How old?? How long have you had him? Could be nerves.
But I cannot stress enough, don't kennel him with diarrhea; especially if he is a pup - you'll never get him crate trained.
You may know this already, but the reason that a dog crate trains is, like a lot of humans, a dog doesn't shite where he eats/lives. If he can't control the shitting as a pup, it will make him hate his crate.
Ha! I rhymed!!

He can't help it, so try to figure out why he's doing it. What kind of food are you feeding it? That's usually the culprit
Posted on 9/27/16 at 11:51 pm to tarzana
It occurs off and on every two or three days? Then he's getting into something or you're feeding him treats that don't work for him

get a goldfish. at least it wont be as bad when you kill the animal because of your stupidity

I have 10 month old golden she is not a puppy in size but I experienced the runny poops for a couple week when she was younger. Not fun to clean up when she was not potty trained yet. I attributed to her shots and trying different foods. Maybe the OP is experiencing this also.
Eta: we did take her to the vet fwiw after a couple days though. He told us she might have had worms which she didn't

Diarrhea isn't uncommon in puppies or older dogs adjusting to a new environment. I tend to do a little rescuing and I see it all the time. If a dog that has been vet checked has a little diarrhea, I will give him cheese. It's something that the old folks do, but it works. You just have to be careful and not feed them to much, then they're plugged up.

He's almost 11 months old, a maltese/cockapoo mix, never been fixed.
I sometimes give him beef brisket, or sweet potatoes, or a Walker's shortbread cookie when he's off his food. Could that cause the runny bowels?
