I haven't had a good (non-medicated) night's sleep since coming home from Iraq in 2004...

Honestly, my wife wakes me up in the morning from the door way because I have a bad habit of "jumping" out of bed.

I'm 8 months or so into a 4-5 hour of sleep pattern and it's shitty sleep at that. No idea why it's happening, but it sucks

I didn't need more than 4 hours a night till I passed 40.

These days I need about 6.

The question you should be asking yourself is what are you really trying to accomplish? I get comfort knowing that one third of life is consumed by sleep. It's my favorite time during a 24 hour day. We are all going to die and probably sooner rather than later. What is everyone rushing around trying to accomplish?

We're now past midnight and I'm still awake but tired. I think this is turning me into an a-hole.

Man I did two pumps to Afghanistan, the last one in 2012 but my sleep was fine up until last year. You have nightmares or what?

I have slept 5-6 hours a night for over 30 years.

You can sleep when you are dead.

My dad ran on 5 hours of sleep for 15 years. Glad he's finally retired.

Been doing it for over 30. I probably do not sleep more than 5-5.5 hours of sleep 10 days a year.

Its all a matter of what you get a custom to doing. At times, I would like to be able to sleep in and do 7-8 hours but I dont think it is even possible for me any more

5-6 is optimal.

Anyone sleeping more than 6 is just being lazy.

I was in Iraq for 15 months (03-04) right outside Baghdad in a place called Sadr City.

I've been through the therapy route and take meds for PTSD. As for nightmares...I honestly couldn't tell you. I don't remember any dreams I may have had the night before once I wake up. I do know that my wife has had to wake me up several times...and a few times she has had to leave the room to sleep in another.

I was talking last night about a couple stretches I've had where it got to the point I was a zombie and falling asleep and not even knowing it.

Funny story, last year was in Orlando and was helping set up chairs in an empty warehouse next to the office for a function. I had been on about a 2 week bender where only getting 3-4 hours of sleep a night and drinking heavily on top of it and not recovering. So I was picking up chairs and supposed to be setting them up, well I fall asleep walking and walk slap across the building and run directly into a wall face first. It startled me and I had no idea what was up. So I told myself I need to walk over to the office. I walk outside and apparently fell asleep again walking and walked about 100 yards the opposite direction when someone started screaming at me asking why I was walking to the woods. Crazy shite. I ended up losing my phone and finding it in the middle of the parking lot the next day.
