For me, it was deciding to keep me.

My mom had me at a very young age. Most teens get abortions these days at the age she got pregnant. Both she and my dad work(ed) their asses off to ensure I had every possible opportunity to succeed in life.

Here's to you, Mom.

Taught me to value a dollar. That woman came up with nothing as did my dad. She's frugal and she looks at the future when it comes to money. She taught me not to spend beyond my means, save money and stay out of debt. As many great things as she's done for me I have to say that that had the greatest impact on my success as an adult.

Saved me from drowning in a pool when I was young. This was before I could swim.

Don't know about greatest thing but a thing that reminds me that she is the greatest:

We lived in Mexico in the mid/late 70s where she had a job teaching english. She knew I was dying to see the new King Kong movie but the theater was over an hour away yet she put us on a bus to get there.

Being in labor for like 24 hours, after carrying me around for 9 months, then sleeping under her own hospital bed so I could be comfortable (small town hospital that no longer had a maternity ward)

Always wondered why we didn't celebrate moms on the day they actually became a mother, your birth date.

Looking back on my life, I would say the best thing my mother ever did was to insure I was educated to prepare me for the rest of my life.
