That's going to depend on what you want out of the case.
For normal everyday use I use the Apple black leather case.
For going fishing, swimming, or other outdoors stuff, I put on the LifeProof fre case.

Probably 2 years and that's assuming they don't release the iphone7 early.
But competitors are constantly improving their products so the iphone6 may not be a great option for even a few more months

My search is ongoing. Considering Speck but it's just a plastic case with rubber ridges for $39.
All I want is some protection and a case that doesn't slide down when placed on an angle.

I have this Pelican case I got at the at&t store. I really like it a lot. It has great grip and is not bulky.

I just ordered the 6 the other day. Been rocking the 4 for several years now. Anyway, insurance is only $7/month. I went with this option instead of an expensive case. Just get a brand new phone if any damage occurs and I don't have to have a bulky cover on my phone.
