Looks like a couple of plants in the area have a fire rolling.

Nahh, there are 4 different smoke stacks around the area.

Massive flames coming from small plant on our property.

PLAQUEMINE - DOW was evacuated shortly after 3 p.m. due to an emergency situation in the plant, WBRZ learned Friday.

Sources said there was a potential chemcial leak at the facility and workers were being sent away from the facilty.

A phone line at the plant in Iberville Parish was busy when WBRZ attempted to call the plant Friday afternoon.

WBRZ has a crew headed to the scene. Check this story for updates and watch WBRZ News 2 at 4:00 for a live report.

Ah damn my bad. They've been flaring for 2 weeks. Benzine plant was supposed to start up last week so maybe related?

Hope everyone's safe

I live about 5 miles from Dow... When the fire stacks are rolling, on a cloudy night, it almost looks like the sky right before sunset. And depending on which way the wind blows you can hear it roaring.. Its actually kind of eery feeling, but it usually happens throughout the holidays. On Christmas eve, Christmas, New Years eve, New Years day you can pretty much expect a huge fire from the stacks.

For some reason, I don't know how accurate this is, but I think I was told once that it has to do with the amount of people who are off (maybe the lack of staff), but I don't know how that would create a bigger flame.. So I don't know if that is true.
