I'm looking to try an electric shaver vs. traditional mach/proglides.

What are some of the good ones out there? Something I can use in the shower too.

I have never found an electric that even comes close to a blade.

I get if it is your religious thing, I just don't get electric over razor.

depends on "beard" type. I can't grow a beard so a electric is fine and then top off with a razor.

The answer is Braun.

Shaving with a blade hurts like hell if I do it from the start. I run a rotary for a few minutes and then touch up with a cheap disposable.

I have had Braun and Phillips. Both just OK compared to blade.

Shower makes no sense to me. Why?

Just buy the top of the line Braun. People who think a blade is a better shave have probably never used a good electric.

I have had those issues before myself.

Decent blades, clean clean clean, shave slower, alum block, and good aftershave balm seems to have helped.

Also, not letting the hair grow as long.

Do these same brands apply for. Use hair trimmers?

Won't be as close as a razor like other say, but you can get pretty close. I used shaving creme with mine, and that seemed to work a lot better. It kind of defeats the point of an electric shaver, but it was much smoother.

Get a wet shaver that works safely in the shower. You must spend good money to get one that works well. First I had one that was about $50, and it sucked. Later I had one I think was a Panasonic that cost about $150, and it was pretty good. Blades lasted pretty long time. There used to be some pretty good reviews on Youtube.

I've tried a few top end electrics and returned them all. None worked like I hoped.

I had one that required some special sauce. You had to mail it back once a year to get it tuned up and blades sharpened and buy some more special sauce. Worked quite well.

I didn't mention it because its quite a thing to buy the special sauce and deal with keeping it tuned and sharp. If you do it, it stays effective.

Braun. Will give a decent shave but not office worthy if you have any beard to speak of. Blade is best.
