Like this:

(but not added on to like this one)

I'd like to see if I could track one down for a certain dealership some day.

Im guessing it was much more PITA to get a truck transferred from another dealership back then.

when trucks were considered utility vehicles, they came from the factory without rear bumpers. the dealer installed on if you wanted it. i don't recall when bumpers became factory equipment, but it may have had something to do with highway safety regs on 5mph bumpers.

Early 80's would be my guess as to when that disappeared. My granda had a 70's chevrolet in turd brown with a steel bumper that was marked with the dealership. Not certain but i think my dad's early 80's dodge had it too. Just remember my grandfather's since he still had that truck when i was a teenager.

Hell it irritates me that dealerships put "suchandsuch.com" across the back window. No way would I buy a truck with that shite engraved in the bumper. I'm not going to advertise for them unless they pay me.

bought an '85 S10 about that time. Rear bumpers were options back then.

Crazy you start this thread. I just saw about a mid 80's Ford that had Tommie Vaughn Ford Houston,TX on the bumper and thought, you don't see that anymore.

I don't recall people thinking that way back then. At least I never heard anyone say anything like that.

Nope. Most of them I remember back then just had a tag up front from the dealer. Maybe an emblem on the trunk or tailgate. I remember my wife standing in our garage peeling off the CarMax vinyl on every car we've bought from there. I asked her why, and she said she just didn't like anything extra on there. I haven't told her about debadging yet or she might go crazy.
