My son has a few of these. Pretty realistic looking too. So what I just throw it at the cat or what?

I've heard you can just put them on the hood and it will scare them off. I have no first hand experience though.

Only solution I can think of if you can solicit some help from your friends:

12 gauge retribution is the only answer... or park in the garage.

No, you don't just throw the snake at the cat. Sitting the snake on your car or around your vehicle is supposed to be the deterrent.

If you wont heed my antifreeze advice and end the problem permanently, I've heard that setting out garlic works as well

Yes, let's try to go the legal route here...

There are cat deterrents out there that don't involve killing them.

I will not confirm, nor deny that I heard about your antifreeze theory that may or may not have been a proven remedy in the past.

Coons, though

I'm not sure about the legality about "putting out some green lemonade" as my Dad likes to say

If you leave something out on your property and a neighbors cat crosses the property lines to consume it, I'd be inclined to believe that its the neighbors responsibility to keep their pets on their property

Some truth to that. Cats can be kept indoors.

However...you can't just always put out antifreeze for your neighbor's annoying cat and everything is fine after that. It depends on the laws and willingness of police, lawyers, etc. to prosecute. Louisiana does have a statute against it:
quote:

§ 102.1. Cruelty to animals; simple and aggravated

A. (1) Any person who intentionally or with criminal negligence commits any of the following shall be guilty of simple cruelty to animals:

...(g) Unjustifiably administers any poisonous or noxious drug or substance to any domestic animal or unjustifiably exposes any such drug or substance, with intent that the same shall be taken or swallowed by any domestic animal.

I'm just one of the few OTers who likes cats, so pardon my random foray into animal law. I keep my cats inside anyway.

ehh I'm in SC but I'd say you can leave out whatever you want to on your property, as long as you don't try to entice the cat to it.

I just really hate cats though.

And no matter how much you love your cat, it hates your guts and is constantly trying to make you its bitch
