What Would Have Been Better: DisneySea USA or WestCOT?

I'd have to go with DisneySea. I watched a documentary on it and it's beautiful. California Adventure ultimately took the place of WestCOT. I am intrigued by the gold Spacestation Earth, however.

I don't see how an adult could enjoy a Disney park. It has been a miserable experience every time I have gone.

Ding! I have small kids. I have been three times in recent years. Every time I want to stab myself with a dull, rusty knife. Can't wait to move on to other places.

I can just think of better places to go that have far more to offer for the same amount of money. Even as a kid, I never understood the fascination of going to Disney World.

The problem with this comparison is that I seriously doubt Port Disney would have ended up like Tokyo DisneySea has. Most people that have been to Tokyo have declared DisneySea to be the best Disney park in the world. Management at The Oriental Land Company has to get a lot of the credit. That's definitely not the same management that was in California at the same time. Port Disney more than likely would have had the same issues that California Adventure faces when it first opened. They would have cut corners and tried to save as much money as possible. I fear that may have been the fate for WestCOT as well. But the plans and concepts for WestCOT look incredible.

They really need to make a new theme park in the USA. They made 3 from 89-01 but nothing in the 14 years since. They have room for about 4 more parks in Orlando.

Hollywood studios will be a virtually new park when they finish with it. Disney is about to spend nearly 3 billion in renovation/reconstruction there. The only things staying the same are Rock and Rollercoaster, Tower of Terror, Great Movie Ride, and Toy Story.

I am sad that MGM Studios is moving away from the Hollywood motif. I like that Hollywood noir era. I miss the studio tour when they actually filmed shows there like the Mickey Mouse Club and Golden Girls. Whatever happened to the rumored villains theme park? BTW, I just read an article stating that Disneyland bought more $60 million worth of land to expand.

I mean,it was a rumor. Never confirmed. Imagineers throw out ideas all of the time. I'm sure if there was one actually proposed, it's sitting in a file somewhere.

Well, it's all speculation as to what they're going to do with the land. As it stands now, I don't see those parcels of property being enough to create a full-blown third gate in Anaheim....unless it's a water park.
One rumor out there right now is that the new land will be "backstage" facilities to replace some that are rumored to be going away. Recently, the rumor floating around is that Toontown at Disneyland will be closing to make way for a Star Wars Land there which would encompass Toontown and the backstage areas there.

I went in February and the weather was perfect. Mid 60s. It was surprising not as crowded as I expected despite many holidays that week (President's Day, Valentine's Day, Mardi Gras, Disney Marathon).
