Agreed, but I would steer very clear of scotch unless he is a known drinker.

Red Brest would be the better choice. Powers would be another Irish Whiskey to keep in mind.

Don't go crazy, a special occasion for me after graduation was " hey let's get drunk". It's nice now to have a buddy over sit by the fire and pour a couple fingers of good scotch and enjoy it for what it is.
