At midnight, mounted police officers with their horses basically shoulder to shoulder, followed by street sweepers start at the East end of Biurbon and slowly work their way West

Is this a troll?

They never close down Bourbon Street. It's 247.

At midnight on Mardi Gras they shut that shite down quicker than an Iranian porn studio.

Anyway, didn't they pass new laws that essentially makes New Orleans NON-24/7??? Thought they had to "close the doors" at 2am every night now? (They can stay open but can't allow new patrons which effectively means that the nightlife dies quickly thereafter.)

Nope. They basically push people off the street so they can clean up. They don't close shite. You really think bars close at midnight on Mardi Gras? U cute.

Clear being the key word. Go hang out in a bar for an hour or so, and you can come back out

No the new law just discourages people from loitering in the street after 2am. I don't think it will change anything. You can still go from bar to bar after 2 am

At midnight they make everyone get off the street. Some bars close, some stay open.

At midnight on Bourbon it's a symbolic end to Mardi Gras with the horses and street sweepers. The bars do remain open though

Way back when, I was in a bar at midnight on fat Tuesday. They music went off, they announced "it is now ash wednesday. Mardi gras is over. Bar closed."

About 30 seconds later, they announced "bar is now open again"

If you're on the street after midnight, a troop of circus clowns with big brooms is going to sweep you up so keep your head on a swivel.
