Golf doesn’t really require athletic training or ability so I’ll go with that. It takes a lot of practice and time but anyone can be decent at it
Most people can get good at hitting an avg golf shot but being elite at golf takes a mental game thats far harder than most other sports

Is a sport something in which your competitor cannot alter your performance?
A game being one in which they can?
For instance, in gymnastics, you can't go push the other athlete off of the beam.
In football, a game, you can block, intercept, etc.

A birdie is not analogous to a hit.
6 birdies in a round is one out of three holes.

It takes elite hand eye coordination. Like one in 10 million good.

Pocket pool. Even a 13 yo can master it with a little practice.

Nup.
According to one of the best athletes of all time who played 2 professional sports (Michael Jordan), golf is the most difficult sport to play.

Depends on what you mean by excel.
Running is very easy. Everyone (essentially) can do it. However, there’s probably no more competitive event in the world than the men’s 100 meter dash at the Olympics because running fast is such a fundamental and coveted athletic skill in so many sports and games, and talent is easy to spot and relatively easy and cheap to develop. Basically the entire world is your competition if you want to be the world’s fastest man.
That’s why I always favored Usain Bolt over Michael Phelps in the best Olympian debates years ago when those two were winning a bunch of gold medals. Phelps may have had more diverse skills, but a hell of a lot more people test out and develop their running talent than their butterfly swimming talent.
If everyone in the world had devoted their lives to sprinting or swimming, I think you be likely to find another Phelps than Bolt.

It’s going to depend on body type, if you’re 6’10” your basketball prospects are far higher than your prospects of being a jockey. If you’re 4’6” you can probably just go to jockey school and you’re in.
The team sports offer more professional slots - over 1500 players will be on NFL rosters every year, and when you count the minor leagues there’s probably double that making money playing baseball.
For individual sports (or skill games) you have to be really, really high in the food chain to make money doing it. While the 2,000th best baseball player in the U.S. is collecting a paycheck, the 4th best pool player in the U.S. is installing windows for a living. (This is literally true - Mike Dechaine is the name).
If you have the body for it, than the team sports with lots of D1/Pro roster spots are “easier” to excel at.
If you’re an average Joe, your body type won’t get you kicked out of the room in the individual games/events, but the people at the top will still be those with god-tier hand eye coordination, and being the 500th best at it isn’t getting you anywhere.

Being a race car driver. But not really a sport. But it would be easy if you started at a young age racing go carts. And golf would be easy too if you started young and had a modicum of talent. But most people don’t get lessons at a young age.

Golf, so many golfers are horrible athletes that couldn't make a starting 5 at the local Y pickup game whereas an NFL player could prob be good at basketball

Golf
Most people are terrible
Work on chipping and putting and you’ll beat most amateurs od you can hit halfway straight.

Thus guy knows what he's talking about
