There is a ton of things in Washington DC that qualify. One thing that struck me as a child on my first visit was how huge the famous paintings you see in textbooks are.

Adversely, it shocked me how small the “Mona Lisa” was.

Used to stand at a World Trade Center Tower corner, look up it's ridge, and be in awe - even after years and years.

The flag at Ft McHenry is pretty awesome to sit under - it's enormous.

A trip up to Mt. St. Helen is pretty damn amazing.

The time the aliens got me was kinda crazy, too...

The Lion of Lucerne

...the Lion of Lucerne is the most mournful and moving piece of stone in the world. Mark Twain from The Tramp Abroad

Notre Dame, but especially the interior. Pictures just can't do it justice.

The Eiffel Tower, particularly at sunset from Trocadéro. When you get off the metro and turn the corner and it just hits you... then the sun goes down and you see it sparkle for the first time... it makes your heart leap.

Rows and rows of white crosses and stars of David at the Normandy American Cemetery. Far too many with this inscription.

A wall of rock and coral that steeply stretches from a mere 60 feet below the surface to thousands of feet below. It feels like you're floating along the edge of the world when you're down there looking out into the deep, dark blue abyss.

Honorable mentions for me would be Lake Como, the Duomo in Milan, the fountains in the garden at Versailles (when turned on), the view from the Empire State Building, and the picos de Europa mountains in Spain.

Independence Hall in Philadelphia...you can sit in the very seats where the founders of our country sat and declared our independence.

The fact it’s basically in the middle of china town made the experience a huge disappointment.

The Grand Canyon - Pictures can't do it justice
Must be seen in person and hopefully throughout a full day as the light changes the perspective and color of it dramatically.

I know some TD posters did Kilimanjaro. Similar as McKinley in size. You can see it days out.
