Wife is graduating from grad school and I will obviously be going to the commencement with her. She thinks I shouldn't wear a full suit (thinks it is too formal). She said I should just wear some kind of a coat/blazer. What does the OT recommend?

If you wear slacks, leather shoes with socks, and a shirt with a collar, you'll be better dressed than many there.

People won't think anything if you overdress there. But people will judge you if you underdress.

Jorts without a doubt. Bring a flannel as the gymnasiums tend to get a bit nippy.

Full suit if you're an adult. Especially when it's your wife's ceremony.

Eta: but if she makes a rec, go with what she wants.
