I do some DWI work and you are seeing courts impose MADD victim impact panels more and more as one of the terms for probation. Which makes a certain kind of sense in a DWI context though it does give me pause to see the imposition of attendance at a private organization event by a Court.

They also seem to be requiring them for things like MIPs now. Which is kind of stretching it as that does not usually have anything to do with driving.

I dunno. I think it started out as a good organization looking to raise consciousness of the dangers of drinking and driving. But they seem to have become somewhat of a bureaucratic entity.

I've got no issue with them. I fricked up and drove drunk.

I don't think should have any business with MIPs.

Once they get a target in their sights. It's a wrap. They're relentless, but it's selective.

What is an MIP?

My opinion of MADD is that I hope no one in my family ever needs to join.

My cousin's husband is a lawyer for them.

Good intentions but the larger they grow they can get corrupted like any non profit.

I think DUI should be punished, but their SOP is to through money. This leads to most PDs using them for help.

DUI, IMO, should be stopped. They are unconstitutional.

Reactive and overbearing. One of the reasons this country's drinking laws are so puritanical

They are slowly eroding freedoms and applying sweeping solutions to really narrow problems. People driving .01 over the limit are not these demons deserving of having their life destroyed.

I think it might be ok to allow someone to be reactive after losing their child.

I'm not sure if that is right or wrong.

The Stuart character was funny but on the whole it was not SNL.

I completely understand the sentiment. More than most.

But I also can see past the emotional side of it and look to where blanket demonization isn't the answer.

It's when all logic is thrown out the window due to emotion that we end up less free.

And I'd rather be free than "safe".

The SCOTUS has ruled that the way they search vehicles is a violation of the 4A, but that the end justifies the means.
