Long story short the guy came in crappy clothes on his bike on purpose to see who would treat him seriously and said it was probably my lucky day. Guy says he wants to buy 20 trucks for his construction company and then opens the paper bag and he has 500k in cash for a down payment. Needless to say, all the other salesman were pissed the next morning that I sold 20 trucks after they scattered.

My unit was one of the first to get to Noriega's compound during Just Cause. There was a vault with about $20M in $100s.
I should have filled up a duffle bag with a few million and went AWOL. Could have buried it and did my 2yrs and go back and get the cash. But, I was a good little govt servant back then. ??
What's crazy is I read a few years later that the official report said they only recovered about $6M! Somebody got paid.

two full size pallets of bills.

This. Was working in the Federal Reserve Building in NOLA. The guards would come by and shut us in the hallway (through locked armored door complete with murder holes. Then they would roll pallets of cash to and fro......

Out back they were shredding the old bills and incinerating them. there was little pieces of shredded bills all over that got oput of the shoot from the shredder to the incinerator. I grabbed a hand full (they sold littel bags of it in the gift shop).

$10000. Not a good story. My father was buying a harley at a police auction. I couldn't drive yet so I was stuck there. All of a sudden I had massive diarrhea and went to the bathroom. Was so relieved it was a single bathroom. I forgot to lock the door and as I'm exploding, I noticed a bag on the sink. I look inside and there was $10000 cash. Man came in shortly after (as my dumbass forgot to lock the door), realized I was shitting my brains out, grabbed the bag, and said sorry with a face that looked like he smelled a dead rat. Not my most pleasant moment.

Me? probably less than $5k

My wife used to audit banks, she's spent significant time in the vaults, she's seen some pretty big chunks of change.

1 Million at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in DC. They had it sitting in the front entry encased in a very thick Plexiglas type case. We took the tour that day so counting the 1 mill in the lobby, I saw over 2 million that day in total.

Millions, easily. The bank I used to use was built in the 20's and is one of those concrete over steel buildings that were built back then when banks wanted to convey security and solidity. 20 foot ceilings in the lobby, granite, marble, the whole nine. You can see the vault from the lobby and it's one of those massive jobs with ilke a 10 foot diameter circular door that's two feet thick. Inside that was basically a jail cell. They'd leave the main door open during business hours and keep the jail cell closed, so you could see inside. Every now and then when there was a large shipment to or from the Federal Reserve (back in the days when they still moved hard cash for everything), there would just be pallets of cash just sitting there 30 feet from you while you deposited or cashed your paycheck.

3.5 million in commercial vault of local bank.

Vault would process the deposits of large commercial customers like WalMart and Winn Dixie.

The cash would accumulate over a week and would then be shipped to the local Fed Reserve branch for deposit into the bank's bank.

Three guys would walk it right out of the building in large bags. No one knew the guys were carrying a few million is cash.

I always thought the process was incredibly weak from a security standpoint.
