What is the endgame for all the stupid social media posts that ask simple questions?

Boomers love them. My Facebook feed is full of them.

"Name a city that stays with A, bet you can't?"

"If you can only buy food that stays with the first letter of your first name. What would you buy?"

"Name a record you listen to all the way through"

"What's your favorite car you've had, "

shite like that. Each one full of boomers giving away possible answers to challenge questions.

But then again most are just silly and stupid.
I can't decide if it's a nefarious ploy or just people who know they can get "viral" posts by attracting boomers and elder GenXers to answer their post.

In b4 I don't do social media or Facebook.

My favorites are the math equations that are easily solved with PEMDAS.

Everyone gets them wrong.

They are designed for information gathering in an effort to steal identities

Comments boost the algorithm so they get more visibility/ followers.

Ask an easy question with a quick answer and they get a ton of comments.

Hmm, those all oddly sound like password reset questions.

Engagement. The more engagement you get on a single post means the next time you post something it will be shown to more people organically.

If your posts aren't getting any engagement Facebook, instagram and all the other social media platforms won't show your post to as many people.

Engagement

It’s pretty obvious.

It’s the same as the classic radio station ploy “Alabama is the only states that ends in A”.

It’s just to generate traffic.

That's got to be it as well. Because I notice the one my grandpa always answers just started a few months back and every post is simple questions. But digging deeper I see it's ran by a homely teenage girl.
Maybe a way to have tons of friends and engagement. On TikTok I understand it equals money. But I don't think you really get paid for followers on Facebook.

I read once it's a great way of aggregating answers to security questions for idiots

So if you like to share with Gertrude and the broads why pepperoni is your favorite pizza topping, don't be shocked when your bank account gets drained

The end game is you don't answer and forward it to 10 friends a ghost is going to come in your bedroom in 5 days and take advantage of you.
