It looks like shite and there has been NO activity in 2 months now. Has never been worse in the 22 years I have lived in BR. What is going on?

They need work, which is starting to get done. That’s the deal.

In case you were unaware, it hasn’t rained in 6 weeks

Do you know whether they can dredge the lakes to a much larger depth than it is now, and also lower the water level in the lakes so that the lake system could serve to accept more water during a heavy rain event?

#5th largest bass was caught out of the lake in ‘92

The lake is now a consistent 2-3 foot deep.

It’s a complete waste of tax money but I will fish out of it when the work is complete.

No it’s not, the Lake System is a natural resource that should be maintained and upgraded in time. I believe it could also aid in flood control.

BREC should be tasked with maintenance of all the lakes except the one on the LSU campus. Our current BREC taxes could easily support that.

They wanted to dredge the lakes to see what they are working with. Not an uncommon practice

Are you saying that the BR Lakes project is like the LSU football program....stagnant?? I would agree.

Why does this have to be tax payer funded? Why can’t it be funded from private concerned citizens like yourself. Maybe by the homeowners who surround the lake. Won’t they benefit the most?

They are not going to lower the level in the lake so it offers zero improvement with regards to flood protection.

Maine when they start dredging the stench will be overwhelming. Those construction guys will be pulling up fossilized terds from King Tut.

With all the kickbacks, they’re probably out of money.

If they could get enough private funding to take care of the Lakes, that would be great. I just thought since BREC had a lot of surplus funds they could do it easily. I do pay them a lot of taxes, abd I have an opinion as to how it could be spent.

If you dredge the lakes deeper.
If you lowered the water level.
You could have a bigger reservoir for heavy rains.
A small outlet could maintain the lower lake level and the lake could fill to the present level before overflowing the current outflow into the bayou there.
It could be engineered if the elevations work.
