Such as 2010 Honda Civic with almost 100k miles and a few dents.

Years ago I sold a car in News on Wheels. Is Facebook Marketplace an option?

I realize I can just sell it to CarMax or someplace like that, but the blue book says I can get more in a private sale.

Nope.

Yes

Just realize you're going to get bombarded with people asking you if it's still available. Then you tell them yes and you'll never hear from them again.

I sold an old car a few years ago on FB marketplace when I was in NC.

Post it on FB Marketplace and share it. You'll likely sell it to a friend of a friend, but FB is the easiest way to get the word out. That's exactly what I did to sell my grandmother's car a few months ago.

Worth spending 15 minutes at Carmax to see what they’ll give you for it.. ive heard/known of people to get more than private party value from Carmax, and ive also known people who’ve gotten less.. I’ve purchased 4 or 5 personal and work vehicles from Carmax and I find them very pleasant and straightforward to deal with, so much so that’s it’s worth spending a little extra $$ to me, my time and sanity are more important to me than money.. so it’s worth a few minutes of ur time just to find out what they’ll offer IMO .

Get a Carmax quote, then leverage that against other local dealers.

I think Craigslist is still the way to go, but if you’re in a hurry, Carmax

Give me the vin

Don’t have any personal experience with them but a buddy of mine told me about this place. He said they wrote him a check right there. They gave him more than trade in. It was super easy. It’s on highland and airline.

Imagine all the trash youll have to deal with on Craigslist or FB Marketplace, people who want to meet up and just kick the tires., or need to wait for their financing to go thru or a million other things.. just go to Carmax or similar and call it a day .

I sold to carvana, I've also sold to a local guy who flips cars.

Got a check from Carvana and cash from the local guy.

I'd drive to my closest used car lot and see if they interested.

The problem is in that price range you are dealing with a specific segment of society, and I sure as hell wouldn’t want to have to coordinate meeting times with them, them doing test drives, dealing with their “financing”, and them haggle you down from your already low price, etc.

The best way is to post it in a closed neighborhood group/nextdoor with an “is anyone looking for a perfect starter car for their kid?” type of message first that way you will be dealing with more normal people.

We did this and ended up selling it to someone who worked for a foster care charity and they buy cheap used cars with donations to give to kids who age out of foster care.

I still use craigslist I can sell a car on Clist in hours every time. look at market price kelly bluebook and cross that to cars.com auto trader and hit below that every idiot will use those bench marks for your price.
clean it up and I would sell it for 8000 to 8500 if its a sedan its tax season people buy a lot of used cars during tax time.
