Adjusted for the consumer price index that is roughly equal to $1.31/gallon today. Pretty cheap but I paid $1.29 2 weeks ago in Oklahoma City.
The cheapest I can remember is $0.29 in the mid 60's.

Regular was about 19 cents in Bogalusa in the 50s - was in southern Alabama in the late 50s during a gas price war (you never hear about those anymore), seems like it was about 12 cents.
