Used to be an all american safe city years ago. Higher prices in Denver pushed people out. I'm sure there's ok areas there but my dad lives there and it's far from the very safe place it used to be.

If you're scared during the day in any part of Denver metro, you're a gigantic pussy. Yeah, there's a lot of Mexicans. They're probably 30% of the population. But most have been there for generations.

I went out of my way to see the worst areas after moving from Nola. Five points had been gentrified. Aurora isn't that bad. West Colfax in Lakewood is just dirty. It's probably 10x safer than anywhere in Louisiana. Pretty much only petty crimes, with minimal violent offenders compared to anywhere in the South.

It's nothing compared to what I've seen but not everyone has seen what I've seen. Better?

Then be a raft guide in the summer. When I got laid off, I spent 4 months as a guide in Glenwood Springs. Best summer of my life.
I prefer the western slope to the eastern slope. Way more laid back in my opinion.

One of my best friends lives in Lakewood near Red Rocks Community College. Doesn't seem ghetto at all to me. You don't have to deal with much traffic and it's located near plenty of stores and restaurants. There's also a mall nearby. I love that area.

I agree.
And, in my opinion, it's predominantly Italian, being it hsed to be a hop, skip, and jump away from good restaurants like Gaetanos and such.

My bad. I meant Coloradans hate Texas more than Alaskans hate Texans. I edited my other post to more clearly reflect that.

Hey surprisewitness, looks like I'm going to be moving up there in the next month.

How is the area around downtown? Are there lots of homeless or thugs? My friend has an apartment there. He says it's really nice but he grew up in a pretty shitty town (where I went to junior high) so I'm not sure what his definition of "nice" really is...
