How awkward is it to ask someone about prospective criminal activity?

you aren't supposed to pay a nanny as a 1099 worker. they aren't independent contractors. got to give them a w-2.

The nanny we hired had previously worked at a hospital in housekeeping. So I figured they had run background checks on her and I knew she would be able to clean.

Not nearly awkward enough to avoid asking the question entirely. This is Class A property here, a gd child of your own creation. All precautions must be taken into account.

I think the criminal activity he was referring to was paying the sitter cash or 1099

some people now are more cognizant of their SS credits and how much they need to be able to collect and are more likely to ask for pay with 1099 so that way they can show the government they are employed.
I don't know how you would w2 them, then you would have to be a business entity I thought?

Well since the daytime requirement means she will be of age, then make sure you get one that will let you have a bit of the cooch, too. Will be a win-win all the way around because it will be a while before your wife gives it up, well, to you anyway...

Make sure you set the rules in stone before you hire her. Exactly what cleaning, cooking, nannying is expected. Laundry? Fold, put away, Vacumn, etc... It was like pulling teeth with mine. Then I set up a camera and listened to her bitch about cleaning and me not buying her fat arse enough Hot Pockets so I canned her and we both decided to work from home.

Mine was great at the beginning but progressively did less and less, she was fired about 7 months in

eta: she was fired for the way she spoke to my wife but she was well on the way out for not doing her job too
