for me, personally, the OT is an outlet. One that i can honestly say has saved my life. Suffering from depression and schizophrenia, and being raised in a family that talking about your problems is frowned upon, has programmed me since childhood to hold everything in. Very few people knows of the problems in my life. I keep up a good front. Good job, funny personality, good group of friends, but that's mostly just a farce. Only 2-3 people know of my underlying issues. My parents don't know. Neither does my brother or sister. I don't talk to anyone about them. The one person who knew, passed away April 18, 2012(my grandmother). I'm not sure that she even realized the extent of it. It just sucks nt having anyone to turn to. It would probably shock nearly everyone that knows me if they found out i contemplate suicide on almost a daily basis, or that I sometimes sit in my car on my lunch break with my .40 caliber in my lap holding back tears as i struggle within myself not to put it to my temple and pull the trigger. Its at moments like those i can see/hear owlie typing/saying that "black ppl don't commit suicide" or other members of the OT saying that suicide is a total beta move.

So anyway, the tl;dr version, just want to say thanks OT, for giving me a semi-annonymous way of venting and being good for a cheap laugh on a gloomy day. This isn't a cry for help, or maybe it is. At this point i don't even know myself anymore.

Maybe you should consider giving up your gun for a bit til you're in a better mental state?

Anyway, everybody got problems, be a man and deal brother.

Either this shite is really heavy, or just kind of a "ya I kind of think this sometimes, but not really."

Either way, guarantee you a lot of people do have thoughts that are serious, and a lot that just think what-if?

I have, and honestly, I love life, and if you want to talk about about fricked up families, I can tell you stories about my church family growing up, and half of my family are Mennonites, and being disowned and all kind of shite.

I've always felt like I had a bad year, then a great year, or just whatever. Felt like I was on top of the world, had everything going for me, and then if it wasn't right, I would stay in the funk for awhile, and then things would be good again, and repeat.

Though I've never really wanted to end it, I've contemplated and came close to doing it.

And no, I didn't want it to end that way, and you wouldn't either. There are so many good times I have, and have had, and their will always be bad times, but that goes for everyone.

You never know who affects your life or whose life you may affect to that point, but I guarandamntee you that any of these thoughts are shared by many, and like you said, even the closest to them don't even know it.

Stay strong.

I've known some adult children whose parents committed suicide. They told me that it is the most selfish thing anyone can do. You don't sound selfish. You sound like a good dude.

Whoever said it before is right. Ditch the gun.

Dude, you know there are phone hotlines. Please call one next time you get down on yourself.

Yes, the OT is a outlet for me too! I get trapped at home many a days at a time due to my health. I'm a person that has always been out going, never one to just sit around. Besides that, one can only watch so much TV for entertainment. So I come here for more.

When my niece was dying in a hospital in Arizona and I couldn't get there in time, posters that live in that area went to the hospital to check on her and see if they could do anything to help.

The OT helped save my son's life. Not kidding. He had serious drug problems and the OT helped me find a place for him to get treatment and also gave advice on other aspects of the disease. Thanks OT

1 (800) 273-8255 National Suicide Prevention hotline. Call if you get to feeling down.

Hang in there. Plenty of people here would be willing to just listen or talk if you needed an anonymous outlet.

It knocks me down a peg.

But damn dude, no matter how bad life can get, it's still life. It's the only one you got.
A Christian knows what happens to one's soul if you take your own life....
An atheist knows this is the only life we have...

It's never worth it to even go down that road. Think of the tears your family would shed.
If where you are isn't working then change your location. Change your career, change your surroundings, but don't ever try or think that ending your life will solve anything. All it will do is take you out of the game. When things are really bad and you are down, remember you can only feel that down because you have already felt the inverse of that, the opposing love and warmth of others.

You shouldn't have underlying issues.
Whatever it is. You need to put who you are out front.
Your family will accept you for who you are, but don't think that you can take your life and 'fix' things. All you will do is break other people's lives.

Right now make a list of goals and try to achieve them. Do that every single day.
Personal, financial, physical... etc.
Get your mind on the future.
Do not live in mistakes of the past or in fears of self or in any form of (and I hate the term) pity.
You have a great life compared to so many others. Look at what you DO have and then go from there.
Would your grandmother want you to die? Even if she is in heaven, would she really want you to join her now?
You are young. Go out and find people like you. No matter how unique you think you are, there are people like you who will accept you.

Black, white whatever, suicide is never ever an answer, it's a shitty way out. It's a long term solution to a short term problem, but one that ruins lives of all around you.
Whatever is affecting you now, you can get by it.
Even if it's something that you fear your parents will 'disown' you over.

I know a guy 36 years old and won't come out the closet because he's afraid of his family's reaction. He sometimes expresses thoughts like this, and all I can think of is "I bet your mom would rather a gay son than a dead son".

Not at all saying that is what this is, but just think about life and the opportunities in front of you.

Stay strong and hang in there. Every day is a new start and a chance to get moving in a happier direction. Don't be afraid or ashamed to reach out if you need it.
