What happens when you meet someone who lives on the opposite side of the world?

When you both mesh instantly, but there's a 15 hour flight between the two of you.

Let's say the chemistry is amazing. Texts/phone conversations/communication is great. When you're together, it's rare, but it does feel different from anything else.

So you communicate for months....years. Maybe see each other a couple times a year. At what point do you give up everything and are you willing to pack up everything and move to be with that person? After the 5th time meeting with the person? 8th interaction?

It's such a weird concept to think about 2 people changing both their lives to move somewhere new to try and make it work with someone you've only met with on a handful of occasions.

What is the alternative? Wait 10 years until you've had the chance to meet 20 times or so to feel more comfortable, but then you've just missed out on a decade of life. So could you ever imagine saying frick it, and going after only a handful of meetings before life passes it by(e)

Where does this other person (assuming woman) live? What is there customs compared to the American male (I assume that's that other person in this relationship)?

And how did they meet? What's wrong with the guy that he is having to meet strange women from across the world? What character flaws does he have other than just not being very attractive? Or is he just unattractive?

Describe the 'chemistry'? Is it sexual? Is there no language barrier? Why can't match.com find someone closer with 'chemistry'?

Similar thing happened to me, exgf had a friend that lived in a different city. We get along great, it's dysfunctional but great. I dropped everything and moved with her only to find out she's a lying pos. She thinks we're soul mates and wanted/wants to get married. Thank God she moved to another state. Her sister is the one I should have dated. What I'm saying is leave it like it is.

BTW
My dad met my mom at a bus stop in Germany while in service. Were married in 3 months and moved to the US weeks after. He has since past away but she still lives here.

I have a friend who did it pretty quickly. I think it requires an odd detachment from your family, life and work.

It's awful to wonder what might have been. Check it out, you'll regret if you don't.

I know...I'm just getting back home after being out so cut me a little slack. And thanks for quoting it so I can't delete it when I sober up.

You could have just said he's fricked up if he has to leave his country to find someone To bang.

I thought gays weren´t monogamous. Why all the worry about a quasi pivotal number of meetings/interactions?

Slip him a roofie, then lock him in the basement, with Cable tv,High speed internet, and a year pass to Brazzers.

He ain't going no where.

You know I'm sitting on the toilet taking a shite checking TD for the third time this morning out of boredom and overall feeling kinds depressed about where my life is. Spending a Sunday morning shitting on tiger drippings that is.

I come and read your post though and suddenly my life seems awesome again, so thank you

My brother is from here and his wife is from Puerto Rico but lived in California and they both met in Australia.. a little shorter distance than half the world but they ended up working it out and she moved here and they're the happiest little family.
