The one that I attended was a crawfish boil. I had a blast like I do at most parties because I'm not an insufferable douche.

If there's alcohol and I GAF about the people there, I'd go.

I do think the premise of the party is silly though. I don't care what sex anyone's baby is.. And there are only two choices it could even be. No real surprise there.

Now if it were some kind of gender mixture or an animal surprise, THAT would be entertaining.

File this in the everyone gets a trophy nonsense, not every detail of your life needs a party.

I'm not sure I've ever cared about the gender of someone else's baby that much.

That being said, I also don't have any brothers or sisters, so that could be part of it.

I wouldn't be against going to one though. I love hanging with friends/family.

The whole thing is just so emasculating. This is what every husband is really thinking: "Great, I''m having a girl and I just found out by eating a cupcake in front of forty people. My life is fricking over." This is what every one of his buddies is thinking at the gender reveal party. "God, I remember when Johnny drank an entire bottle of Jack Daniel's and screwed two different girls on the same day at Panama City Beach spring break 2003. His life has really gone to shite."

Yes, we know, you go ape shite about this topic every time it is brought up and will defend it to your last breath because you love Pinterest.

Makes fine sense, you want to celebrate every mundane detail of your life. Just like you want a trophy for it too.

If you want to drink and eat with friends, just do it, you don't need dumb excuses to do it. No excuse is a good excuse for a crawfish boil and beer.

I think it's one celebration too many.
Example:
Your friend gets engaged...engagement party
Friend/Friend's fiance needs stuff...bridal shower
Friend's about to get married...bachelor/bachelorette party
Friends getting married this weekend...rehearsal dinner
Friends wedding weekend...Wedding and reception after
Friend/friends wife gets preggers...Baby shower
Friend/friend's wife wants the world to know the sex of the baby...gender reveal party
Friend's kid turns 1...blowout first birthday

In a lot of cases, all of that happens in a 2 year span. That's a lot to attend considering that you'll talk to that friend 3 times a year after since they have kids.

I don't mind attending them so I'm supporting both sides, but let's be honest, women just want to post this shite all over social media

It's just the same deal

Not every detail needs a party, not every accomplishment needs a trophy.

At its core, it's a got dam social event. Just admit you aren't a social person and let's move on.
