Have advanced as far as the T800 and have realistic skin and their only mission is to please. Cook, clean etc.

It will make real women have to lower their standards and step up their game.

anyone old enough to remember when it was "car phone" long before it was a "cell phone"?

you needed an antenna on your car to get a decent signal so nothing portable about it.
For sure..

Caller ID. I grew up watching TV shows and movies that depicted a cop telling someone they had to stay on the line for at least a minute so they could trace it. Then, all of a sudden, you get that info before you even pick up the phone.

I remember thinking the text message was dumb and that it would never replace the phone call.... Solid call on that one.

The first time I browsed the Internet on a T1 line my mind was blown!

Also this gun. It would blow my mind as well.

I remember the first time my coworkers were telling me about 3D printing and I watched YouTube video on it. That as earlier this year...I thought I was in another dimension.

The microwave oven blew my mind. And the remote control for the TV.

These. Plus, Pong - you can control the object on the TV- WOW!

Cable TV and Satellite. Anyone who lived with 3 to 5 channels can appreciate how amazing it was to have 20 or 30 channels.

Caller ID.

most people forget how difficult this was to become reality.

my dad worked for the phone company and the ACLU and others threw up no end of roadblocks saying landlords wouldn't take phone calls from angry tenants, etc.

like caller ID was going to ruin communications.

remember when you had to buy a little ID-doodad just to see it?

do people still buy these?

The jump from cassette tapes to CDs was pretty big at the time.

I'd have to say Napster, and then the rise of Torrents was pretty cool. Being able to download a bunch of songs for free and make your own CDs changed my life. Then being able to download complete albums and movies was even better.

There is a new show on AMC called Humans. Basically about future synthetic robots, and the show actually goes into this type of idea/environment (future synthetic prostitutes/brothels, the idea of the synthetic model you buy similar to a car to do house work also acting as a sex robot, etc).

We've only watched the first two episodes so far, but the show seems interesting.

i remember going to an audio store in monroe and the 'salesman' showed me how indestructable CDs were by putting in one that was SCRATCHED TO frickING HELL and it played flawlessly...

.....

.....

The top of the CD was scratched :/

my frame of reference was vinyl where the 'top' side is where the music came from.

a-hole.
