re: What color is this dress?

The craziest part of my dress night was when I saw it as black and white, I copied the pic into paint, selected a part of the dress in each shade, copied it into a blank space, and I saw the white or gold. When I saw it as black and blue, I did the same in as close to the same spot as possible, and I saw the black or blue.
This is pretty weird. I think everyone succumbs to the checker-shadow illusion, but this one is different unless half the Internet is trolling the other half, which I still believe.

I guess it's a step above discussing cat videos, but still first world problems for sure.

Because it's fascinating with the added hilarity only the OT can provide.

And now it's blowing up on Facebook.
This dress is the debil.

The issue is not the color of the actual dress. The issue is the picture of the dress the OP posted.
And it's the same colors under different lighting conditions

I think there is latent racism in refusing to see black and blue.
I have a dream, that one day dresses will be judged not on the color of its fabric, but on the content of its price tag.

Christ y'all needs some lessons in critical thinking.
1. It's the warm yellow light hitting it.
2. It's a fricking Instagram photo and Instagram is notorious for FILTERS
This has nothing to do with critical thinking. The dress in reality is black and blue and no one who saw the dress in real life would question that.
The picture that the OP posted has had the lighting adjusted. Light is everything when it comes to colors and how the human eye perceives them.
If you have ever used photoshop you can adjust lighting or change colors anyway you want. What you can not do is say that blue is red when photoshop says its blue. If you can't look at the images that I have shown you and others posted earlier and see what I'm talking about then I can't help you.

What you're missing is that nobody is arguing that every fricking pixel in that photo is jet black. We're saying it's easy to tell that the dress is black despite the lighting of the picture. We completely acknowledge that if you fricking zoom and enhance on the black part of the dress that it'll look brown/dark orange just like everything black under a light with an Instagram filter on it would be. You're arguing with a wall. It's a fact that there are tons of people out there that think the dress is legitimately white and gold, so that's why I'm not arguing with a wall.

Yes! The dress is fricking black and blue. Different colors look different in different lighting situations and contrast/brightness settings.
Those of us that saw it correctly saw that it was in fact, black and blue, but the colors looked different due to those variables.

I just punched my massive neighbor Heston in the gooch. I'm overdosing on meth tonight because my life is in shambles over a fricking dress.

It's black and blue clearly

Try to copy and paste pieces of the op's picture. I'm sure they will look black and blue.

One thing I've noticed is that the people who see black and blue stand by it
There are people who have seen white and gold who eventually end up seeing black and blue
Which leads me to believe the dress is in fact black and blue

No those people have seen other pictures of the dress and know that in reality that it is black and blue. That has nothing to do with the OP's picture.

Maybe the people who see white and gold are just impressionable and air-headed pussies
