It's hard to keep up with what's going up these days. It would probably be the nicest casino in Mississippi still, just hard to keep up in that town.

Go to Vegas a ton. Caesars is my "home" casino.
Good places on the Strip with good pool experiences:
CP
Cosmo
Encore
MGM
Bellagio
Mandalay
The Cromwell is new and has a nice rooftop pool complex
If I beaucoup cash, I would probably always stay at Encore. Rooms great, pools great, casino is small but classy.
I'm too old to do the pool parties (Rehab, Beach club, etc.).

Palazzo is a really nice place. Thats where we stayed in March for a Bachelor Party.

Get Spearmint to pick you up and drive you.
Thats what we did, limo ride to and from with bottle service. The security over there is amazing. Im going out on a limb they have some ex military guys.

I'll put it this way, I went last week for a conference at Mandalay Bay and we had 3 options for rooms booking though the conference. Here was the breakdown: TheHotel @ Mandalay Bay $152/night Mandalay Bay $132/night Luxor $39/night
I would stay at the Luxor again, I stayed there midweek in 2011 and had a massive suite with multiple rooms with a full size hot tub for under $100. Having just rode my motorcycle for 2 straight weeks National Park hopping, it was pretty fricking awesome to get that for that cheap. A lot better than spending over 100 for a shitty small room in a really nice hotel.
It wasn't a top of the line hotel, but it was clean and nice. Coming from tents, it was a massive improvement.

I guess coming from tents anything is gonna seem nice, I feel dirty if I have to walk through that place

People love MGM but I didn't care for it. It's like the Redneck Riveria of Vegas.

Circus Circus is head and shoulders the best.

I feel dirty anywhere in Vegas, it really is a shithole of a city. Worst part of my entire trip by far.

Wynn and Encore are nicest but too expensive and not really worth it to me. The casinos aren't great and it's as far north as you really wanna be on the strip.
Palazzo is the nicest room for your money. The casino is nice and it's attached to the Venetian for the shops and restaurants. Overall great experience. The Venetian is basically the same but older.
Cosmopolitan is very young and has awesome rooms. Mine usually had a balcony overlooking the fountains which is pretty awesome. The casino is terrible and small with horrible service. When I stay I never gamble there anymore.
agree with all of this

Most are nice as long as you avoid places like Luxor, Excalibur and hooters.
Been a few years 2008.
Luxor was a middle of the road place then IMO. It go downhill?
luxor is still middle of the road, and a much better place to stay than excalibur, hooters, circus, etc.
their rooms prices are probably some of the best deals on the strip. the main problem with luxor is that you are at the very southern point of the strip. if you are trying to do vegas on a budget, luxor isn't a bad option, it's on par with monte carlo.

one of my buddies loves the luxor and i don't know why

Venetian/Palazzo sportsbook fricking sucks. That's the only reason I don't have it at the top of my list. Hopefully they realize the subcontractor sportsbook route doesn't work.

Maybe he likes "Thunder from Down Under"

As a resident I don't think Luxor is bad. It gets a bad rap. It was one of the best hotels on the strip when it first opened in the 90s, its just been passed up by newer properties since then.
It's not a bad hotel stand alone, when you don't compare it to others. Its when you start comparing it to others when it looks bad.
Still probably nicer than any hotel in BR.
I liked going to the Luxor as a resident because it was well ventilated due to the pyramid structure.

One of the main reasons I avoid MGM Grand, its way too big and it attracts the trash who think they are big time because they are staying or playing there

What's the best sportsbook/place to watch sporting events?

The Luxor was actually one of the better parts of Vegas for me, relaxing as frick on the cheap. I would use it again as a stopping point again if I was traveling through. Have no interest in the rest of Vegas. I am not the target audience of Vegas.
It's still decent and clean, a lot better than most hotels you will find when traveling outside of major cities in the southeast.
