I don't really have biases against any of the companies so I am open to pretty much all options. My truck is pretty much dead so I need to look into a new (or used) one. I don't need anything too fancy, but it needs to have a V8 and at least an extended cab. Are any of the companies offering particularly good incentives on new trucks right now?

I am also trying to decide between going with a new one or a used one.

I had $11k knocked off of the F150 that I just bought. Sticker was $42k. 2014, V-8, 2WD, leather seats, super cab, bed liner, running boards, subwoofer. You can get really good deals on the 2014s because they're still trying to make room for the 2015s.

Yeah, and that was just what they were offering upfront (rebates + incentives). I didn't do any haggling, other than to get a little more for my trade-in.

Purely on value (for a new), Ram is probably the best option - they're hungry and have come a long way since the bad old days of Dodge.

Having said that, I really wouldn't consider anything other than Toyota or Ford for trucks - but that is purely a personal preference. I had a rented Ram a couple of years back that was one of the nicest vehicles I've ever driven.

The dealership I bought my wifes Acadia has about 10K off of sticker on GMC half tons right now. Courtesy GMC in Lafayette, they price low up front, the 10k off is dealer discount + rebates.

I was leaning a little toward Toyota or Ford, but not too much. I may look into the Rams, but have also heard bad things about the old days. I just don't know how far back those old days go.

The thing is, particularly with Toyota, you can't lose - you either keep it forever, or enjoy its resale value.

However, they just don't negotiate as much as the U.S. makers. Nissan might be another option, but I've never been sold in the Titan - some people love them, but I'm just Toyota, or failing that F-150 (and I'm rethinking that until there is consensus on the aluminum).

The 2014's are gonna be priced to move. If your looking at Ford keep in mind the new aluminum body on the 2015's. Some people shy away from a body style change year. Also the 2015's only offer one v8 as opposed to the 2014.

Wait for Toyota to start offering 0.0% for 72 months again in a few months. That will more than make up difference in your difference I note. Plus you can get add ons added to truck put in the note because it's free interest, won't cost you a dime more

Why do you need a V8 vs. the ecoboost. Courtesy ford in Breaux Bridge has a ton of 2014s left.

Go to truecar.com. Have dealers compete for your business. I just bought a 2014 Nissan Titan to replace my old wrecked one and got a great deal with no hassle. The titan retains its value better than most full size trucks. I never had a single problem with my old titan.

My purchase was 1 month ago. there are still plenty 2014s of any make/ model truck you want. For the best deal, get a 2014. They are stingy with deals on 2015 models.
