Oh I know they don't just hire anyone. Like I said, a friend of mine, who graduated from BRCC but went on to graduate from LSU in Mechanical had a GPA over 3.0, he said he felt that going to BRCC for two years might have hurt him in terms of filtering out resumes.

It took him awhile to get the job with the state, but I was just mentioning that as an option. If he were able to get a job, he could eventually get a job somewhere else possibly making more than he could at the state.

You asked who was downvoting you, I gave you legit reasons why your post should be downvoted. volod isn't getting an interview, much less an actual job, from the state with the budget the way it's been.

My company is hiring. 60 K for entry level hourly.

You will have to physically work though.

IT jobs are available but you have to get your foot in the door
first

And move to Alabama.

Yea, most people on here dont know what they are talking about. Its actually pretty hard to get an entry level position in the state right now with no work experience and a not impressive education resume. Its going to be damn near impossible by just applying online. His best bet is at a job fair and impressing someone in person.

He just ignores all of mine, and others posts that are sending him in the right direction.

Because that direction means he will have to do something himself instead of someone just handing a cake job and $$$ to him. Typical, always looking for a handout and thinking the man owes em something.

I don't have a problem seeking things out myself. I do not wish for a handout. Yeah, my education background isn't what I wanted. But Im not going to let that stop me.

If I really wanted a handout, wouldn't welfare be the de facto option? ??

have pointed out, in many of his other threads, about working for defense contractors. These two, along with Vette's suggestion of Lockheed Martin, and others are always hiring.

Thanks. I'll check it out. Especially those plants you mentioned.

Look into teaching at a public school in the north Baton Rouge area

You're going to need a teaching license for that. If that dude graduated from Southern with a 2.4 then he ain't passing the certification test.

Might as well be based on the job search. Why not head over to the law school, catch a ride to the day labor pool and work a few days in construction?

Thank you SO MUCH for having the common sense to know that. Seriously, you dont know how many people think they can just walk up to be a teacher. No license = No decent teaching jobs.

Have you looked into the paper industry around your area, they tend to have engineering jobs open frequently and they pay a decent amount.

Stop trying to get THE job and get A job and start working your way up and building a career. It would appear that you want to skip all the steps in between and go straight to GO. It doesn't work that way.

Add to that not even passing the FE, and he shouldn't even waste his time applying.

It's required to pass. He would be stuck at applicant if he never passed. There are hundreds of applicants for engineering jobs here. Some even take the non-engineering tech position.
