I try to buy round toys that are slightly larger than my dog's mouth. He goes crazy trying to figure our ways to get his grip around it.

Kong makes squeak toys that have a switch to turn off the noise.

Seriously? That is awesome. When inside, my dog chews on the dried cow dicks.

Tennis balls. Lots of tennis balls.

Don't allow anything they can chew and swallow, nothing soft and plushy, and no rope toys until they loose their baby teeth. Once they start ripping the tennis balls apart give em a new one.

Bully Sticks (a.k.a. crack for dogs)

My dog goes nuts when I give them to her. They do smell kind of bad, though.

The only toy that my dog (boykin) doesn't immediately tear up is a tennis ball. He loves them, their indestructible, and they're cheap as shite. I've got tennis balls scattered everywhere in my house

ETA: deer antlers are great too
ETA: damn

After i had to take my dogs as puppies to vet bc they swallowed the squeakers I've avoided all toys with them. But it limits you to basically bones

Am i being overly cautious? So many toys have them they cant be so bad can they?

I have a Lab/Golden Retriever mix. She's closing in on 5 months.

She loves toys that are kinda like socks.

She has a few like this. A fox, duck and one like in the link.

Nylabones, kong toys, etc are all good. But she likes the stuffing free animals the most. She also loves sticks in the backyard. And there's a little stuffed football she likes to fetch a lot.

with my new beagle puppy, I have stayed away from the squeaky toys that are filled with cotton. Dogs will chew until they find an opening and start pulling out the cotton. I found one that is filled with paper that crunches when they chew on it. So far hasn't destroyed it. yet. Tennis balls, plastic squeaky toys, old socks that are knotted.

Get empty peanut butter jars from everybody you know. There will be just enough in them to keep the little bastard occupied. He can get the top half easily, but the remaining peanut butter in the bottom is a bitch. Much cheaper than a Kong and much more effective at keeping them occupied for long periods of time. When he tears it up throw it away and get another. My last bulldog would keep his face in one of the jars all day trying to get all the peanut butter.
