Watching Live PD, have a question about damage from K9 searches

Nearly all of the K9 searches I've seen on this show, the dog scratches the shite out of the vehicle it's sniffing...if they end up finding nothing, yet the K9 scratches their vehicle to hell and back, can they seek money for damages?

i think you can always seek compensation for damages.

You can seek it, I doubt you'll find it though.

You'll probably be fed a line of BS using terms like probable cause.
Probably why they indicate the dog to check certain points then try to say that the checking was a "hit"
After then the damage is free game.
Although with how sketchy some departments are getting, I wouldn't be surprised if they civil asset forfeitured your car, then sent you a bill for paint repairs for forcing them to mark up their car.

On a related note, does the police ever reimburse forced entry damage to the landlord
What about on no knock warrants, when it could be argued that the police chose the time and place to attempt to apprehend.

If you seek you will find, if you chirp you shall grind.

Does they? I ain' even know baw.
Yes, you stupid motherfricker. You typically replace the door unless the homeowner was the motherfricker being dragged out of the fricking house.

*shrug* I'm the one typically called a boot licker in anti-cop threads, but don't act like this is a given without a question.
There are stories, outliers though they might be, of erroneous no knock raids that kill family pets, and lawsuits are required to even get cost of replacement of the pet.
And there are cases of pets of non-suspects being killed and the courts said: Tough shite, they don't owe you a dime.
So tell me again how its a given that a lawful warrant at an correct address will get reimbursed for damages just because the landlord is innocent?

I asked my family member who was federal LEO. It's probably different on a state/local level, but he said on a federal level, if you're being searched, there's enough evidence that you're guilty that would make any damages from such a search justified
