WatchESPN Streaming Issue - Solutions?

UVerse DSL...yes I know COX has better network speeds, however, WatchESPN is the only streaming "network" that I have any issues with. Anytime I select a game the picture will immediately freeze and audio will be clear.
No lag, freezing, or any buffering issues at all with NCAA March Madness On Demand, YouTube live broadcasts, Netflix, etc. WatchESPN is the only one that gives me trouble.
Any tips other than suck it up?

Suck it up. Watch ESPN has always been shitty regardless of box, provider or speed. NCAA App has been awesome!

What are you watching it on/with?
There have been a number of threads about folks having trouble with that app. Many have great internet and no issues with other apps or channels.
The trick is finding a streaming device that works for you. Some use Roku, but I have had issues with it (even though it's awesome on other channels). I use AppleTV with good success. Some guy posted a hack for Roku during baseball last weekend, and it seemed to help.
On my iPad, it works fine.

Most of the ESPN live programming can be streamed directly through the ESPN app, without needing the WatchESPN app (works the same way, log in with your provider). See if it works any better.
ETA: what I posted is true of mobile device streaming, I'm not sure about with streaming devices like Apple TV, Roku, etc.

Surface Pro 4
Same issue in the WatchESPN App and via Chrome Browser at watchespn.com

I've lost count of the number of times the watchespn app froze on me in the middle of a basketball shot, a baseball swing, or a football pass.

I just go to settings and reset my Fire TV box maybe every couple of weeks. It has always cleared up these issues for me.
